What oils are contraindications while pregnant?

I am trying to conceive, and am curious to know if there are any oils, and herbs you must avoid while pregnant. I use oils in place of body lotions, particularly lavender, and rose hips. Also, I am a big herbal tea drinker, are there any herbs I should avoid once pregnant. Thanks bunches!

What oils are contraindications while pregnant?
There are some oils that can increase blood flow and might affect you if you had a likelihood of miscarrying :Clary Sage, Rosemary, and Jasmine would be some of the stronger oils to steer clear of during the early stages of pregnancy.

Burning aromatherapy oils will not harm your baby though. Burn aromatherapy oils rather than synthetic because they will help you relax and they taken from natural plants and just have a healthier 'feel' to them. Your baby will not be harmed in this way, and will probably enjoy the lovely fragrances you are breathing in more than the synthetic ones.

Lavender oil is cheap and gentle and relaxing.

One or two drops only with water in the burner at a time, mixed with the same of citrus oil such as grapefruit or lemon you have a lovely refreshing room fragrance.

* Make sure you have plenty of water in the burner - this may be obvious but some people burn the oils direct in the burner without adding water, and this is not how they are intended for use. The steam is what carries the oils into the air.

Is it safe to drink herbal teas while I'm pregnant?

Many pregnant women carefully avoid caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and unnecessary medications but think nothing of drinking cup after cup of herbal tea. If this sounds like you, take heed: Herbal teas can be harmful, especially if you drink too much of them. Most of the ingredients in herbal teas are safe, but many are not. Herbs are drugs and thus can be as potent as some medications. What's more, only a few of the herbs used for teas have been studied in pregnant women.

Which teas are not safe?

Many of the herbs used for teas, when taken in large or medicinal amounts, can potentially stimulate the uterus and induce miscarriage. These include anise, catnip, chamomile, comfrey, ephedra (called ma huang in traditional Chinese medicine), European mistletoe, hibiscus, horehound, Labrador, lemongrass, licorice root, mugwort, pennyroyal, raspberry leaf, rosemary, sage, sassafras, stinging nettle leaf, vetiver, and yarrow.

Note: You can still eat food that contains herbs like rosemary and sage, because the amounts used in food are generally much smaller than those used in tea — and not as potent (the brewing process for making tea concentrates the chemicals of the herbs).

Among other reasons to avoid certain herbs used in teas:

? Coca (also known as mate de coca) contains small amounts of cocaine.

? Comfrey, kava root, skullcap, valerian, and woodruff may damage your liver.

? Lobelia contains nicotine.

? Mate (or yerba mate) can contain as much caffeine as coffee.

None of these herbs should be taken while you're pregnant or nursing.
Reply:If you look at the brands you currently like, there should be a listing (typically under the nutritional facts) if there is a warning about it. Simply put, anything that has any warnings (like don't use if you're pregnant) has to list it on the packaging in a place that is easily accessible.

Most external oils and lotions shouldn't have any problems with warnings about pregnancy... I've never heard of any that did and I can't think of any reason they would. Some herb teas may have a warning on them, though.
Reply:Penny Royal Oil is D A N G E R O U S to a pregnant woman.

When I was pregnant with my first child, a relative told me to rub my belly with olive oil twice a day to prevent stretch marks.I continued doing this night and day with every pregnancy and never had any stretch marks.

Best wishes to you.

Does anyone know where I can get a comforter with music notes on it?

I want a comforter that has something to do with music. I think I'm going to give my room a music theme. I've seen one at Delia's but it has pink with it, and my room has lavender walls. I want a really cute one, because I'm a teen girl. Anyone know where I can find one?

How long can you keep essential oils?

I've had some for about 5 yrs and they're still closed. They were always kept in a dark area as well. Can I still use these? I also have some that are open already, but once again they were kept in a dark area. I bought some new ones just in case, but can I still use the old ones? If not in a health way like baths or so, maybe to fragrance closets or so? The scents are Lavender, Eucalytpus, Tea Tree, and Rose.

Thank you!

How long can you keep essential oils?
Essential oils can last anywhere from six months to several years. So, while they can be pricey, they are also a good “investment.”

You’ll know when essential oils have gone bad, because they will begin to emit an unpleasant, rancid odor, and will turn murky or cloudy.

Exposure to sunlight, the air, and high temperatures can affect the quality of essential oils. So, when you buy essential oils, they should be in an amber glass bottle, and preferably have a very tight lid. They should also be kept in a cool place.
Reply:My wife and I use the same to make homemade hand soaps.

The strength of the scent is affected.

Yours are probably in Dark bottles also.

Open the bottle and the strength of the fragrance will tell you right away.

Properly stored, who knows. We have used patchouli oil, I think dated to the 60's , LOL.

Acne quick home remedy lavender oil?

Absolutely!

Lavender is a natural anti-bacterial and anti-viral agent. For years it has been used for conditions including insomnia, alopecia (hair loss), anxiety, stress, postoperative pain, and ACNE! Herbalists treat fungal infections (such as candidiasis), wounds, eczema, and acne, with lavender oil. It has also been shown to stimulate the growth of new skin cells helping to heal acne and scarring.

Where can I find a gun metal gray queen sized bedspread?

My boyfriend "allowed" me to paint our bedroom a pretty lavender color. I thought I would make look more "manly" by getting a nice gun metal gray comforter for our bed. Every store I have looked at doesn't have anything gun metal gray. Seen anything I might like?

Where can I find a gun metal gray queen sized bedspread?
Check out the Christopher Lowe collection at Burlington Coat Factory. He had a very beautiful one at the beginning of summer when he introduced his new line. Chris Madden had a quilted gunmetal metallic gray one with little burgandy and purple flecks, but I think that has been discontinued. JC Penney used to carry her collection. You might also try Chadwicks Home, Brylane Home and Spiegel as they have ususual selections.

What items can you not send in care packages to Iraq?

I know the obvious no weapons, porn or alcohol but is there anything else that cannot be sent. Can you send herbs like sage and lavender?

What items can you not send in care packages to Iraq?
You can sent hygiene items like toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, soap, foot powder, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, and bug spray,

you can send food items like cookies, cakes, hard candy, chocolate (only during the cooler months because it will melt), sunflower seeds, and single serve drink mixes.

Also AT%26amp;T calling cards are great to send as most camps over there have AT%26amp;T calling centers.

I dont see any problem sending sage and lavender.

Thanks for you support and God Bless you!!
Reply:dont send chocolate! it melts all over everything else in the package..then its just a total letdown for them. also dont send any canned foods without a can opener, or any other foods that they cant just easily open...they mite not have a can opener or whatever.. Report It
Reply:Any plants have to be dried. Depending on where he is, and who he works with, you can send him pork products. I personally would run around showing them to any local nationals or enemy combatants. But they serve bacon at the DFAC.
Reply:Tobacco products. The morbid truth: More than 440,000 Americans die each year from tobacco products than our soldiers killed in this military conflict in Iraq.
Reply:Well, sage and lavender still count as produce, given it is a plant. People aren't supposed to send any produce to the middle east. Anything else besides that is good for the most part. The main things though are no porn, alcohol, weapons, sand, produce, and, lol, animals.
Reply:dont send pork. good lord dont serve pork. lol my husband has told me so many times not tos end that because its a sacred animal in their country.

you can send some sage and lavender..just not too strong because they might think its something else. my husband loves beef jerky and thats a hard find over there. that and little munchies and toiletries. they are hardto come by at some bases over there.
Reply:porn, drugs, alcohol, pork products, liquids, anything you aren't supposed to send through the mail here. And by the way they can classify private pictures as porn.

I wouldn't risk the plants/herbs as the smell would probably make them want to search your package even more.

How do I get the old-lady odor out of my grandma's wood jewelry box?

I inherited my grandmother's jewelry box--it's 12" tall, 10" wide, and 5" deep. It is made of wood, and the doors on the front open to reveal five drawers. Each drawer has a fabric lining in the bottom. There is a pervasive smell inside the box--it smells like an old lady's perfume, and if I leave my jewelry closed up in the box for any length of time, it comes out smelling that way too. I have tried Febreze, lavender oil, and my own perfume, but none of those have worked. Right now I'm trying baking soda--lining the drawers with tissue, then filling them with the baking soda--which has some effect, but not enough. I've gone through two boxes of baking soda so far. My next plan is to rip up the fabric lining, but I'd hate to have to do that. I really want to make this jewelry box work because it has a lot of sentimental value. Help!

How do I get the old-lady odor out of my grandma's wood jewelry box?
unfortunately all of the spray products you used probably exacerbated the problem .

I would continue with the baking soda in the following way (you may have to repeat 2 or 3 times) Please ONLY get it re-lined if ABSOLUTELY necessary

try this first : place the box carefully into a Large plastic bag inside a big cardboard box. open a box of baking soda and place it beside the jewelry box in the bag - carefully open all the compartments of the jewelry box and then carefully close the plastic bag. Leave the box where it won't be disturbed for a couple of weeks. Like in your fridge, the soda should absorb alot of the odor.

If there is still odor try this : it's alittle more radical but should work.

take the box apart carefully - liberally sprinkle clean baking SODA into each drawer and into the empty box. close it up close up the box again and leave it in a closed plastic bag - leave it for a couple of weeks. it's messier, and you will have to vacuum out the powder after a couple of weeks, but that should do it.

I know that charcoal also removes odours, but I wouldn't mess with black stuff on the velvet or wood.

Good luck
Reply:My question to you is WHY would you want to get rid of the sent of someone you will never see again. If it really has "sentimental value" as you say, would the sent also be sentimental. I think it is just grandma's way of lingering about. I would just leave it just the way it is.

way to go grandma
Reply:You can try placing a small piece of cedar wood in it for a little while. Also, place the box outside in a moisture free weather protected area for a few days allowing it to air out in the sunlight.
Reply:have you tried putting a dryer sheet in each drawer?
Reply:I was going to suggest baking soda but I see that you are trying that.

I think relining the drawers is your last resort. And that what you should try is air and time. Aerate it.

It's a shame that you aren't fond of your grandma's perfume!
Reply:febreeze it
Reply:take the drawers out and open the doors leave everything open for a while and let them air out; for about a week or 2 and see if that works
Reply:Maybe Resolve carpet cleaner on the fabric. the spray bottle for spots. try a small spot first to make sure it doesn't harm fabric. it smells good.
Reply:I love my 92 year old mom, so please don't be offended by my answer!

In most grocery stores in the PET ISLE they sell pet odor spray!

It will mask all most ANYTHING!

I did rip out the lining one time of An old jewelery box. I saved the material and had a furniture upholsterer redo the box in similar material, and gave the box as a gift to my daughter! That is a really good option to take it to a pro.

But the pet odor spray should work, along with if you can leave the drawers open for a couple of days.;
Reply:Ozium brand air freshener sold at Walgreens~if it's good enough for morticians it's good enough for everybody
Reply:You might have to steam clean the fabric to remove the Odor. Perfume is usually what older women ware. Young girls can only afford Cologne or toilet water. Perfume is very strong and hard to get rid of. Try Ozium and airing it out if not steam clean it and air it out or remove all the fabric.
Reply:I would think the smell would be a part of its sentimental value. I would leave it as it is and store my jewelry elsewhere if I didn't want it smelling like grandma's jewelry.
Reply:You don't need to get rid of it! Smell is connected to the old factory senses and a part of our brain that is connected to emotions. (the limbic system) Unless the smell reminds you of something horrible I would try to keep it in there. I have a box like that and I think it is cool that maybe someday my child might get to sense what it felt like to walk into her great-great grandmothers house.
Reply:Umm...

It's not febreeze its another...Hmm...

Disinfect it

Oh you could try bleach?

Do you have to crush lavendar to get its fragrance?

I heard that lavender has a soft fragrance but you really get the aroma when it is put under pressure or crushed. Why ?

Do you have to crush lavendar to get its fragrance?
No, but crushing them will release the oils faster and maake it stronger
Reply:You dont have to crush the plant to get a scent, you can just rough it up a little, brush your hands over the plant and it will deposit the oils on your skin. You can also snip short pieces and put them in a bag to freshen your drawers or closet.

Crushing the leaves will release the oils and give you a much stronger aroma.
Reply:You get to smell something only if it is a gas that is soluble in the lining of your nose. Which is why ammonia is so strong smelling. And perfumes all come in liquid form, never as a powder. They are known as volatile liquids that can turn easily into a gas, dissolve in your nose linings and then you get the smell.

So, you can smell lavender if you wave it under your nose but only faintly. Its fragrant oils float out of its pores (called stomata) into the air and into your nose. But crush the flower and you expose the oils inside to the air. No need to waft out of pores now, but the essential oils can burst out from the cuts into the air around your nose.

Aaaaah! Heavenly. Lavender is one of my favourite scents.

It's the same reason for smelling perfume very faintly when you hold a bottle of the perfume, but when you pull out the stopper, you really get it strong.

What herbs can I add to homemade shampoo and what are their benefits?

I wish to make shampoo at home using natural soap. I thought of adding strained green tea and neem (Azadirachta indica) juice/water to the shampoo. What other herbs can I add?

I live in India, and avocado, rosemary, lavender, etc which are commonly used in homemade shampoos in the west are not easily available here. Can someone help me out here?

PS: I am not interested in other haircare recipes and SPECIFICALLY want to make SHAMPOO.

What herbs can I add to homemade shampoo and what are their benefits?
Lemon and chamomile give you highlights. And green tea and tea tree oil are deep cleansing. Jasmine smells wonderful. And any citrus extracts make it clarifying and shine enhancing as well as energizing. I would try to add lots of natural fruit, nut and flower oils for moisture and shine. If you have oily hair then add vinegar, or sea salt. Almond, coconut and olive oils help repair the hair from the inside out.
Reply:Tea tree oil is really good. Do a search on it. It'll help with shine and it's a great medicinal.

Lavender oil during pregnancy?

Hi, someone has given me a bottle of lavender oil for the bath and when i have read the label it says avoid use during pregnancy but it doesnt say why. I cant find any info on this so does anyone know why you cant put it in the bath? I think its ok as a massage oil or for aromatherapy just not in the bath??

Thanks

(im 35 weeks pregnant) x

Lavender oil during pregnancy?
I think that is only for ingesting lavender... using it in a bath should be fine, because you won't be swallowing it. You should of course ask your doctor, because they would know better. This is one of the reasons you should avoid herbal supplements and teas.. because something that seems harmless just might not be.

Edit: Reading more into it... apparently lavender can be a very powerful allergen... and is a "uterine stimulant" (which would mean that it could bring on labor of course).
Reply:In it's full strength form, it is a uterine stimulant. But what you have is probably fine to use in the bath. Just a couple of drops is all you need.
Reply:dunno but get some raspberry leaf tablets (herbal) I reccomend them my second son was born 2 hours after contractions (thats bloody quick)

Take them in last 3 months of preg.
Reply:Maybe the chemicals would be too strong for the baby.
Reply:if thats what it says then id avoid it, if its been made for a burner then it may have something in that could be err "irritating.." (politely).

its probably fine but they want to cover their backs. talking of backs maybe opt for the massage. im sure it will help you relax just as much.
Reply:just have somewhere by for 4 more weeks than you can use it. I'm not really sure why put do it in case something happens
Reply:no its fine i find using it in a bath before bed gives me a better nights sleep than i normally get just lately.

i asked my midwife and she said lavender oil and tea tree oils are good during pregnancy.
Reply:Apparently Lavendar oil can induce labour. So put it by until you are 39 weeks then use it

What if some random guy gives you lavender roses, how would u react?

he'll be my crush...IF he's cute

What if some random guy gives you lavender roses, how would u react?
I'd get a panic attack.

I would just say thanks and run before he takes them back.
Reply:just thankful...

but i wish it would be red roses instead of lavender....lol
Reply:give him a hug n peck on cheek
Reply:I would be amazed that a random guy would give me roses at all. But lavender roses, whose primary significance is enchantment, majesty and love at first sight? I would feel totally unworthy and confused and hope the guy did not realize what he had given me.
Reply:I would either be very flattered or very scared, depending on who the guy was and how "random" the guy really is.
Reply:happy....its a rose...and everyone loves roses
Reply:I'd say thank you.

Then walk away..
Reply:I would be like, for me? aww then start to like him.
Reply:i would say thanks walkk away and wonder who that was.
Reply:I'd tell him he's barking up the wrong tree. Maybe give him directions to the nearest gay bar.
Reply:That he's making fun of me. I'd give him a furtive look.
Reply:Well, it depends how our relationship has been and how he presents them. Say it's a random stranger, I would be creeped out. If it's a friend giving them to me in a nice, friend kind of way then I'd be like "oh, thank you so much!" If the guy and I were going out I'd think it was thoughtful and kind of him to get me the flowers. I would especially love the fact htat they were lavender.
Reply:I'd be like "dude I'm not gay!!"
Reply:I love roses and would be happy!

My husband would be ticked off and would put the guy's face through the pavement. Then I would have to give the roses back...boohoo.
Reply:well.. if he is a random guy that talks then i might talk to him

I love lavender roses!
Reply:say "get away from me you stalker!!!!!"

then throw the flowers in his ugly face
Reply:thank him and wonder how he knew lavender is my favorite color. has he been stalking me?
Reply:I'd thank him and probably blush a little and ask what it is about me that he finds mysterious

Lavender roses symbolize mystery
Reply:I would smile and say thank you.
Reply:i would first be really flattered, and then i'd be wondering who my prince charming was, then i'd label him as a stalker and be paranoid about who was driving behind me on my way home that night

but i'd definitely keep them
Reply:I would ask why, unless it was my husband.

What colors to mix to produce purple paint for house interiors?

i'm painting my daughters bedroom and she wants a lavender or purple paint. the walls are made of wood

What colors to mix to produce purple paint for house interiors?
You'd be far, far better off to buy ready-mixed purple paint at the hardware store or paint store. Mixing paint colours should be left to professionals. For one thing, it'll be easier to match it if you need to repaint a wall or if you want to paint something else later. For another, mixing old paint is a really bad idea; you'll get a clotted mess.
Reply:red and blue make purple, to make it lavender you would have to add enough white until you got the shade you wanted

Creating lavender oil?

How can you create a homemade separator for separating essential lavender oil from lavender water when distilling?

Creating lavender oil?
"Making Lavender Oil - BY VICTORIA M

The essential oil that comes from the lavender plant is highly scented and is a common ingredient used in making perfumes and toilet waters. When you are growing the plant for its oils, gather the flowers from it as soon as the flowers are faded, thats when you will get the most oils from it. To make the essential oil itself: Soak the flower heads in a large glass bowl in olive oil, enough to cover the heads. Let it sit for 24 hours then strain through cheese cloth. Voila, you have your own homemade lavender essential oil. This works best on a small scale of course. Hope your readers can use this tip."

I think cheesecloth would be an acceptable separator.

Raspberry & Lavender: Diaries of a Lavender Girl?

Raspberry %26amp; Lavender: Diaries of a Lavender Girl?

Does lavender oil cure pitted face scars?

Only laser therapy can fix that.

Does lavender oil cure pitted face scars?
no oils cure scars! your asking for laser reconstruction or even more in depth then that to correct scars.
Reply:Try rosehip oil (Trilogy brand is great) or bio oil instead. Don't think lavender oil will help with skin damage.
Reply:No. There is treatment available, but lavender is not the answer. It has been used to prevent acne and to lighten superficial (extremely shallow) scars so that they are less noticeable. However, I can't attest to how well it even does that.

Some techniques that are used to effectively treat pitted facial scarring are as follows:

dermabrasion

chemical peel

laser resurfacing technology

microlaser peels

micrografts

These are just some examples... there are other options available as well. You need to see a dermatologist and discuss which options may be best to fit your budget and lifestyle.

You will not be able to get rid of those scars without seeking a professional's assistance.

40 weeks today can i put few drops of clary sage and lavender in my bath is it safe to use?

were you ever told it wasnt' safe to use? 40 weeks should be about time. not much bothers the baby at that stage after all they give you drugs when you get to the hospital. so I am told. 2 kids no drugs. where the heck were my drugs?????

40 weeks today can i put few drops of clary sage and lavender in my bath is it safe to use?
If you are 40 weeks along, I wouldn't recommend taking a bath period.
Reply:You can put it in your bath as soon as you have had your baby.

Why take any chances now.
Reply:Sure and drink some OJ and Castor Oil too if you are really anxious. I did with #3 and hours later there she was.

Good luck and I'd only use a very few drops.
Reply:if in doubt leave it out ..
Reply:It's safe to use. It wont harm the baby at all. They are protected within the placenta for one thing. And the smell wont harm your baby either.
Reply:They say not to use the herbal stuff if you are pregnant. And at 40 weeks your cervical plug, or bloody show, has probably come out or is loosened enough to come out. I wouldn't be taking a bath anyway right now--your so close, too many contaminagents. Stick to nipple stimulation and sex.
Reply:WTF does 40 weeks have to do with anything?

What's the best way to press flowers within a 3 week time-frame?

Heya. I need to press dry some flowers, Lavandula officinalis (lavender) and Calendula officinalis (marigold) as part of an assignment due in 3 weeks time. What's the best method to use if you need to transfer them into an artbook and have them stay/stick without damaging the delicate flower heads? What type of materials will I need, and will plain blotting paper be ok? Part of the stem will also be dissected, will I need to use another method to dry that part?

Thank you! ^_^

What's the best way to press flowers within a 3 week time-frame?
What I always do is I take two tissues and place the flowers or plants between them, put heavy books above and below, and then put them in out side attic. I don't think pressing flowers usually takes more than a couple weeks. The marigold will definitely take longer than the lavender, so you might want to put a LOT of books on that one, because marigolds have such a thick sepal. You can place the whole flower in together, and tweezers are probably good for taking it from the tissue to the page. Only the thinner flowers are in danger of breaking by movement, so be careful with the lavender, you might even take the tissue directly above the page and carefully remove it and place it straight on your art book. what I've always done is to take decoupage glue and apply it in brush strokes with a wide paintbrush.
Reply:honestly? Put them in a dry room, not the living room cellar attic or room with cracks where moister might leak in and slow down the dry process, it would be best to hang them upside down, in a closed off, warm room. (keep a heater on in the room if you can!) after the flowers are dry place them in a heavy book, preferably the back of one, for about three days, then it should be safe to iron them to keep them flat!

Nicki Chaotic
Reply:You can press them quickly in a microwave oven too. Check this page at my site for some info on several ways to do it:

http://glassattic.com/polymer/mixing_med...

(... click on *Dried Nature* ...then scroll down to the section called "Quick-Drying Flowers %26amp; Plant Material--In a Microwave"...)

For any thicker wetter parts you want to press, just do them separately and adjust the time/etc since they won't dry out as quickly as the thinner parts.

HTH,

Reply:Generally, I've always pressed my flowers in big heavy books, I know that some one will not touch in at least 3 weeks.

Check out the web sites and hopefully they are helpful for your project.

Good luck.

How do I get the spoiled smell out of my laundry?

As soon as the machine quits i go to put them into the dryer and they already seem to have an odor to them. I use Gain liquid and downy lavender softner. We thought that maybe it was the water but we just recently moved to another town and we are still having the same problem.

How do I get the spoiled smell out of my laundry?
Add one cup of ammonia to your regular detergent in all of your loads until you find the smell is gone from everything.
Reply:Then it must be your washer. Try running a short cycle, no clothes, no soap, but put in plenty of bleach. It sounds like you might have some mold in your washer somewhere. Hope this helps. At least it's fast and cheap to try!

Why not just buy some acne medicine with tea tree oil already in it. Straight tea tree oil will not cause a reaction to your skin unless you are sensitive to it. You can add it to your normal facial cleanser or put it on your washcloth and dilute it that way. Under normal circumstances though it shouldn't irritate your skin.
Reply:You can add it to an oil free moisturizer.. don't even use a natural "oil" if you are trying to clear up acne caused by oily secretions.

You can even add a drop to your cleanser... you can dilute it with purified water as well..
Reply:If you get a reaction to undiluted tea-tree oil you should probably stop using it at all. Alternately you could try using a product that has tea-tree oil in it, like a soap or a facewash, and see if the dilution helps. You could maybe dilute it in some soapy water. But if it's making you itchy STOP USING IT. It'll just make things worse.
Reply:tea tree oil clears your skin, you can use it alone

What's the best essential oil to add to my mop water?

I want to stop using Pine Sol and all that chemical synthetic junk for cleaning my house. I was thinking either Tea Tree or lavender oil, because of their disinfecting properties. We have some cheap rolled out linoleum looking stuff, and I was just wondering what would be the best oil to mop with. Any other random all-natural household cleaning tips would be greatly appreciated! ^_^

What's the best essential oil to add to my mop water?
When you mix the hot water, soap and essential oil, the essential oils are subject to some chemical changes. That's just an FYI... I agree that the Tea Tree is a good idea, but I would use a citrus oil. They are inexpensive and smell great. They are great additions to any home-made house-hold cleanser.
Reply:Tea Tree oil, while a product I swear by for many uses, would be too astringent-smelling for use on an entire floor. There are some more subtle lemon oils you could use.
Reply:Tea Tree oil is rather $$$ for mopping the floor?

I use Vinegar!! I use vinegar on the whole kitchen!! It leaves a nice clean fragrance that isn't overpowering.

Sprinkle baking soda on the carpets or rugs and let set for a while then vac! Put fabric softener pads in the vac! Exhaust smells much more heavenly than dust!

Use sandlewood sprigs all around to discourage spiders. Smells so good too!

I don't worry too much about disinfecting! Too much dog and grandchildren trafficing without wiping dust off shoes at the door! As long as I can keep the tracks out, I am happy!
Reply:Tea tree oil is great. Have you heard of Melaleuca? check out www.saferforyourhome.com It has great solvent properties as well as soothing, healing, cleaning etc. Melaleuca is geared toward getting the chemicals out of your home. I would be happy to help you
Reply:vinegar and water would work great i do my hardwood floors they come out nice or murphys oil soap would work well also.

How can I get rid of this bump by my nose piercing?

I have tried using tea tree oil, lavender oil, and sea salt soaks but whenever I use the sea salt soaks my nose gets very dry. Please help! It has been getting bigger for the past 3 months. I don't touch it without washing my hands and I make sure to be careful when I'm putting on clothes.

How can I get rid of this bump by my nose piercing?
There's some stuff called H2Ocean Spray that I'd recommend trying. I haven't tried it myself since I am unable to find it anywhere, but many sites recommend it.
Reply:it's probably a keloid, which is a scar.

you're probably using too much sea salt if it's getting dried out.

give it time to go away or i would go back to the piercer and look for further instruction by him/her.

How to mix l00% lavender oil and extra virgin olive oil for massage purposes real answer please!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

buy massage oil.....

How to mix l00% lavender oil and extra virgin olive oil for massage purposes real answer please!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I think you are asking for a ratio of essential oil to base oil? The 'how' is; add drops of Lavender to the base oil and shake a bit. Viola!

A solution of 3-10% essential oil is fine for a massage blend. A higher % would be used if you are treating a condition. ( ie athletes foot, fever, edema, etc...)

To determine % use this information.

A milliliter is 30 drops. One ounce is 30 mls. That means that one ounce is about 900 drops. 3% of 900 drops is 27 drops (1 ml) 10 % is 90 drops (3 mls).

Lavender oil is very user friendly and you can be flexible with the percentages. Be sure you are not using a stoechas or spike lavender, these oils have a higher ketone content and should be used only with an awareness of ketones and some caution.

Olive oil is fine to use as a base oil for massage.

What do you guys think of these colors for decorating?

I'm decorating my fiance's house and he said to do whatever I wanted to. And I'm going to do the bedroom in Lavender, pink, and yellow with a seashell like theme. I'm totally into interior design and these are my favorite colors. What do you guys think? Would he like it?

What do you guys think of these colors for decorating?
no. i doubt he'll like it. seashells are better for the bathroom, IF you want to use that theme (personally, don't). you might be "totally into interior design", but i wouldn't hire you. sorry.

when i was a kid mom wanted to paint the kitchen (it was dad's house before they got married) and he let her...she had my grandpa paint it pink, (this was in the 50's) and the table was pink the chairs were pink vinyl, the canisters and breadbox were pink and the curtains were pink...mom was thrilled with the new look and i wish i had a camera for the look on dad's face when he first saw it (just after mom showed him around and left the room for a moment, he let his guard down and the expression was one of abject horror) but he never let her know he didn't like it...what a guy my dad was.(and a good husband)

My husband agrees with me about the yellow/pink/lavender thing.

I just realized that you said bedroom and not bathroom. If you really meant bedroom, I would go with something more masculine... a lot more. This also involves heavy textures, like suedes and such, but that is my personal taste.

Rooms like this seem more masculine to me:

The bedroom is a shared area - you can use one color you like, one he likes, and one you both like. You should both be comfortable and happy there.

My husbands favorite color is blue, mine is yellow, and we both like green - so our house is all these colors, in different shades, and matched up differently in different rooms.

Our bedroom has a lot of blue, a little yellow and green; and the guest room and kitchen are mostly yellow.

Do something a lot more calming %26amp; tranquil in the bedroom, like Sherwin Williams "reflecting pool," with "nacre" for the trim %26amp; ceiling. This shade is gender-neutral, and it will feel like being at the beach - so might still be able to use your seashells. Your fiance would be more willing to compromise on that with the colors not so feminine.

You don't want to make the bathroom too feminine. Long term lavender and pinks in a mans bathroom just will not get it...at least not to me. Sorry sweetie. I would let you come and do MY bathroom in lavender and pink though. It would be pretty for a female.

How can i get a part in Harry Potter?

I want to be in the Harry potter films and if i cant get in the Harry Potter films i really want to be an actress. Can anyone help me land the role of Lavender Brown in harry Potter?

How can i get a part in Harry Potter?
i think that ship has sailed
Reply:Somebody is already Lavender Brown.
Reply:I am genuinely sorry, but I think it might be a little late. But if you think that it is not too late, check some newspapers. That is as far as I can tell you.
Reply:You may not have a chance if you are not British, and this role is most likely already cast anyway. However, the professional thing to do would be to simply send a copy of your acting resume, a headshot, a video tape and perhaps a letter of interest to both the author and director.
Reply:you have to live in england.
Reply:You should search on google where they are hosting the auditions, then ask your parents to go try out. I have been in 2 plays. You should try!

Which herbs grow best together in the same box?

I am a beginner gardener and have purchases lots of herbs for window boxes including : rosemary, mint, lavender, thyme, chamomile, sweet basil, chocolate mint, chives...and also a smal jalape?o plant. I was wondering which herbs would best work together in a window box? are there certain herbs that shouldnt be put together? are there any that should be potted alone? Id appreciate any help! thanks!

Which herbs grow best together in the same box?
The mints, both ordinary and chocolate need to be seperate as they will take over any pot they are in and they prefer shadier conditions than lavender, thyme and the pepper. (They all need full sun to do well) The rosemary needs to be seperate as it will grow fairly large eventually. The rest can all be planted together. Basil is an annual btw, meaning it will only grow for the one season.
Reply:Most of them will do fine planted together. Try to group them into areas that share equal amounts of water and sunlight preferences. Rosemary is a shrub and should be planted in larger containers. It will produce for several years and makes your deck or patio smell wonderful. Plant cilantro with tomatoes and BOTH will produce more heavily. I don't know why, but they do. Never plant a "hot" pepper in an area with "sweet" peppers because of cross pollination. This will make banana, bell, and squash peppers as hot as the hot pepper. Not a good thing on pizza or in tossed salads. Chives will do well in a groups by themselves.

How do I help my 10 week old like bath time?

I've tried the baby bath, sink, and bath tub. I've tried the lavender bath, warmed up water - she screams bloody murder every time.

How do I help my 10 week old like bath time?
Fill up the sink with warm water- but not too high. Put your babe in clothes that zip or snap and are easy to remove with little effort so you don't have to pull wet clothes off over her head. Put her in the warm water dressed. Let her splash around for a lil' bit and try to wash her face and hair.
Reply:Don't run the water within her hearing. Also, could be that the water is too cold for her. Warm it up a litte. Mine like me (or daddy) getting in the tub with them. You can try that too.
Reply:Have you gone in the tub _with_ her?

Works a treat, here -- every bath is a bath with Mum or a shower with Daddy, and a bath's a pleasure all around.
Reply:try not filling the tub up so high with water, my son is 8 weeks old and he does'nt cry, good luck she will get used to it
Reply:I used to put on my bathing suit and take my son into the bath with me with just a little water. it was easier to hold him.....
Reply:talk to her thw whole time

in a nice calming voice put a couple toys in the tub

shake a rattle for a few seconds

rub her back a little
Reply:My daughter also screamed throughout her baths until a friend helped us out. We used a bath seat instead of the bathtub until she outgrew the bath seat. Make sure the water is warm enough and covers her up to her belly button. Also make sure the bathroom isn't too cold. Her being warm made all the difference in the world and now she loves baths!
Reply:When you bathe her make sure she doesn't need a nap or need to eat. My kids always loved that lavendar bath stuff. Make sure the water is warm enough and that there is enought to cover her to keep her from getting cold. Does she take a pacifier? My kids loved to have their pacifier in their mouth during bathtime when they were tiny babies. Make sure you don't wash her hair until the end so her little head isn't staying cold while you wash the rest of her.

You could also try bathing her every single day and at or near the same time when you do it. She will get used to the bath quicker if she gets into a routine and knows it is coming.

Good luck!
Reply:Have you tried getting in the tub with her? Does she have toys or something to look at to keep her interest? Do you keep from running the water when she's right there? Maybe the noise from the water running is scaring her?
Reply:my daughter hated bathes so i showered her!!

i kept her head out of the water for the first few times then she loved it.

i also just gave her a sponge bath. just have a tub with warm water with the lavender or something init and just use a face washer (flannel) to wash her. have a warm room and a nice towel for her after you have finished.

hope its helpful.
Reply:My daughter also didn't like to bathe too much. Now I don't get her head wet until the very end of the bath. I also make sure that I hold her very tight so she doesn't slide around on her own and I make sure that her legs and torso are covered with water so she doesn't feel cold. Now my daughter is actually enjoying her bath and is smiling and laughing while in the tub.

When I was a baby I hated baths because my dad once by mistake turned on the hot water faucet while bathing me. I didn't get any burns from it but it was enough to make me hate baths temporarly. But that passed and I recall loving to bathe when I was a bit older.

How to choose music for a retail store?

Have thus far found:

Unfamiliar music makes customers shop longer. Slow music results in slow customer movement Consumers react more positively when there is continuity and coherence in an atmosphere design (for example relaxing lavender scent with slow paced music) Peak arousal is in music that is either very relaxing or very exciting. The more pleasure and arousal from the music, the more they wanted a buyer-seller interaction.

Any other suggestions?

How to choose music for a retail store?
What type of business are you in? That is the first step in getting the right mood for you music. For example, I own a women's boutique called "Gypsy's A Boutique" and we sell unique one of a kind apparel as well as casual to special occasion dressing, but in looks that you would not find at a department store.

Our store has a mood that is playful %26amp; very fun just to come in %26amp; look around, very relaxing without the sleeply aspect that can come from a too relaxed mood.

So we play music that has that kind of feel to, Rod Stewart's Songbird series, Boys from the 50's, Lorenna Mckennitt(celtic), Nora Jones %26amp; some French cafe type music. All of the above music has so made an impact on my clients that we tend to keep copies on hand to sell as it gives the kind of mood that clients like. No head bashing, no drum pounding, to where they leave due to a headache from the music.

So take the tone from the type of store you have %26amp; it will fall into place as you want to keep the mood going in all that you do. Good Luck

What water temperature do flowers need?

More specifically, lavender, tomato, strawberry, and polious.

What water temperature do flowers need?
Plants need ambient temperature water, water that has equalized with the temperatures the plants are growing in. They need neither to be heated nor cooled by the water given to them.

The lavender %26amp; tomato are Mediterranean and subtropic respectively, while strawberries are fairly ubiquitous temperate zone plants.

Lavender is a family of some 25- 30 plants native to the Mediterranean, growing in dry, rocky habitats. It just needs warmth and shelter from harsh, wet winters. It is dampness, more than cold, that kills lavender plants. Like many plants grown for their essential oils, a lean soil, lacking organics, will encourage a higher concentration of oils. An higher pH and especially a chalky soil, one over a lime stone bed rock, will enhance the lavenders fragrance.

Tomatoes are opposite to lavender needing an organic rich, fertile soil with a steady water supply. Tomatoes are heavy feeders and uneven watering can cause tomato fruit to split. Avoid spraying the plants with cold ground water. Use a soaker hose instead or a drip irrigation. Drip systems are available for any setting from fence mounting, patio pot sets, to full field set-ups.

Strawberries are best in fast draining, but loam rich, sandy soil although there are cultivars developed specifically for heavier soils. Strawberries also need steady amounts of water for best fruiting. Strawberries are shallow rooted, they should never be stressed by lack of water. Deep mulching helps in holding ground water and preventing fruit from rotting but should never cover the plants crown (where the leaves sprout from).

Polious? Typo?
Reply:It's not too important for mature established plants, but newly planted plants and seedlings should have water that is not very much different than the daytime temperature of the surrounding soil and air. This will help prevent shock in new plants and seedlings.

While it's true that greenhouses don't heat water, we do let water come to air temperature before applying it to the plants. This is done in staging tanks where incoming water is held for a while and also gives entrained gases such a chlorine an opportunity to off-gas.
Reply:I would use warm water if you use cold water it tends to shock the roots and stunting growth . I hope I helped and good luck with your plants .
Reply:Green houses don't heat their water when watering their plants, so I would presume we don't have to either. Hope this helps

What is your favorite laundry detergent/fabric softener & dryer sheets?

I'm looking to make some changes. I want to try to a different kind of laundry detergent, fabric softener %26amp; dryer sheets. I want my clothes to get really clean, be soft %26amp; smell great for as long as possible. I currently use Gain. I've used "touch of softness", "lavender" %26amp; "original" scents. There are too many choices to smell them all. So if you love the way your detergent, fabric softener %26amp; dryer sheets clean, soften %26amp; smell, please share...thanx!

What is your favorite laundry detergent/fabric softener %26amp; dryer sheets?
I use All Free and Clear laundry detergent and have been experimenting with the different fragrances and brands of fabric softener.

I used Downy for years, but grew tired of the same old fragrances and have recently tried Suavitel fabric softener. I'm very pleased with the softness of my clothes and I've only used the one in the yellow bottle, but it has a nice fragrance as well. Not too overwhelming, but it seems to stay in the fabrics a long time and it's a lot less expensive than most fabric softeners.

I keep a box of Arm and Hammer Fresh Burst scented dryer sheets, but only use them occasionally (when I forget to add fabric softener to the final rinse).
Reply:i use all free and clear detergent, I never keep the same softener, and I use those eco-selects (or whatever they are called) from wal-mart ( blue box)for dryer sheets!
Reply:Tide Liquid, original scent, Downy April Fresh scent in liquid %26amp; in sheets. Makes my wash smell sooooo good.
Reply:Personally, I love Cheer. My clothes come out of the wash clean and smelling wonderful. I also add liquid softener by snuggle (I think) which can be at times pretty pricey. However, my clothes stay very soft. I also use snuggle dryer sheets. Hope this helps.
Reply:I like gain joyful expressions in the red bottle for clothes, along with downy fabric softener and downy sheets unscented for the fabric softener smell already in them...
Reply:I love Gain liquid and snuggle dryer sheets.:)
Reply:I like the scent of Gain Thousand Treasures it better than Lavender scent. I prefer to use Nice %26amp; Fluffy fabric softner mountian rain. It leaves my clothes a mountian scent.

If you don't like Gain there is Surf they come in different scents or Purex. I use a small bottle of Small %26amp; Mightly it last a well but didn't have any scent.

I use whatever fabric softner sheets I can get for 1 dollar
Reply:I use MelaPower laundry detergent, MelaBrite to whiten and brighten my clothes, and MelaSoft fabric softner and dryer sheets. They get my clothes really clean and they smell great. The best thing is they don't have any harsh chemicals in them. They are more effective, safer, and healthier for your home and family. I've been using these products for the past 3 years and love them. Email me if you would like more information.
Reply:TIDE original laundry soap and lavender softener from downy ( the purple bottle ) incl. dryersheets . Very longlasting scent
Reply:Have you ever considered skipping dryer sheets altogether...they actually cause a gunky build-up in your dryer over time...and switch to fabric softener? I used dryer sheets for years. Still do on occasion. However, I purchased the Downy drop in ball...it's a little plastic ball you fill with fabric softener...about $4.00... and toss it in the washer when you put your clothes in. It automatically releases softener during the first rinse cycle. They are fabulous! And you will not need a dryer sheet. I use Downy 'Lavendar-Vanilla Scent' fabric softener with them. As opposed to dryer sheets that simply leave a scent on the outside of the clothes, the fabric softener seeps into the threads and it stays fresh forever...and no static from the dryer!! My clothes smell great...not too strong...and stay soft for months. Even the stuff I store over winter.

Try it...you'll like it!! I guarantee!! It definitely converted me.
Reply:TIDE, CLOROX BLEACH, BOUNCE DRYER SHEETS AND BLUING FOR WHITER WHITES.
Reply:Tide liquid with a touch of Downy Clean Breeze. Downy Clean Breeze liquid fabric softener. For sheets and blankets I use the same detergent, but I use Downy Simple Pleasures vanilla and lavender fabric softener.

S Is there a healthy way to just slightly increase breast size?

I recently have toned up alot due to a good healthy year and a half in the gym but my breast have shrunken from a 36B to barely a 34B. Is there a way that I can perhaps just get them slightly bigger without pills or implants? I read that lavender oil and tea tree oil actually increased breast growth in males but I can't find anything on females. I don't want jumbo ones, just a little bit bigger. During my period they do increase a cup! This sucks! I know the more muscle and cardio I do the more fat i'll lose from my breast. What can I do to even maintain or increase my breast and still be able to work out regularly? I was already considering BC (preferably Yaz) because i'm sexually active and I wanted to know if anyone noticed in increase in their breast or elsewhere when they started taking BC.

S Is there a healthy way to just slightly increase breast size?
There is a way to get bigger breasts without surgery, pills or creams have you seen this site? http://www.shops-flower.com/recommends/Y...

I have followed the plan and I am now a size bigger in just a few weeks. Have a look.

http://www.shops-flower.com/recommends/Y...
Reply:There is nothing that will increase breast size except surgery.
Reply:Actually, if you strength train and specifically target your chest muscles, it will make your chest appear larger, and shouldn't really burn fat. Since you are already ijnteh habit of being athletic, I highly suggest that you try the chest muscle exercises for a few months to see if it makes an impact. Other than that, gaining weight will make your chest appear larger (because you'll have more fat), but there really isn't anything else you can do. Sadly, many of the herbal supplements out there are scams and won't actually help increase your chest size. BC, however, may help increase your chest size.

Good Luck
Reply:Keep in mind that the size of the bra (34 and 36) is calculated by measuring around your entire chest and around your back. The size of the cup (B) is the actual size of your breast. When you lose weight and gain muscle tone, you're going to lose size everywhere, including your diameter around your chest.

I would hesitate to encourage you to take birth control pills with the main intention to increase your bust size. That's a very unhealthy way to think of things. I'm not sure that birth control pills will do that for you anyway. I've not heard of any side effects along that line, but talk to your physican anyway.

I'm not sure of any sort of topical or ingested product that will truly enhance your breast size. If there were such a thing, I'm sure it would be painfully obvious to us all, know what I mean?

Love yourself for who you are. You're doing a great job getting into shape and taking care of your body. You're breast size (according to your bra size) hasn't really changed much, and you're probably still very proportionate. If you're really unhappy with your body, talk to your physician about what options are available. You may have to consider surgery if there are no other options that will bring you the results you want. (Keep in mind, though, that surgery is invasive, painful, and can come with complications. Weigh the benefits and the risks before you make your educated decision with your physician.)
Reply:Just to let you know, that girl above me who says that "B" is your cup size and the number is just the band size is mistaken. I am a Victoria's Secret employee and it's a common misconception that the cup size is indicative of a single size. Cup size is relative to the band size; you have dropped a cup size.

That said, there's nothing wrong with that! There's no way to increase your breast size but you are fine just the way you are. I see so many variations on the female form per day and I've got to tell you, almost all of them are beautiful.

I take yasmin and when I started, my breasts increased by a cup size. However, they shrunk back to their original size as soon as my body had adjusted to the BC so don't go on it for that.

Would it be wise to mulch my herb garden if the weather calls for light snow?

Sun. and Mon. I have already cleaned my herb garden out and last year the frost killed my Lavender and several others. temps have been in the 70's but they are calling for light snow on sun. Everthing is coming up and looking good. should I worry?

Would it be wise to mulch my herb garden if the weather calls for light snow?
Mulch will not help. It is cold air, rather than cold ground that will damage the plants. If you think the temperature will drop really low, cover the plants temporarily with sacking or some other wind shield.

Lavender is fairly cold-hardy, so I am surprised yours was killed with cold. It is more likely to have died in the winter from getting too wet -- it needs well drained soil.
Reply:No, don't worry. Snow isn't the culprit as far as plants are concerned - hard frost is. The ground has warmed up sufficiently that you don't have to worry.
Reply:It would depend on how the weather has been!

How do I make a facial mask that can be kept in a bottle for a couple months?

I want to add lavender oil to it.

I dont think you can make one that can sit in a bottle for a couple months.

I think it would dry out in a few days.

What are good repellants for roaches?

I am tired of using roach traps. My neighbor has something placed in his yard (Which is why the problem is here) from a profressional exterminator I can't afford. I've heard lavender and bay leaves are good repellants.

What are good repellants for roaches?
unfortunately the ebst method is preofessional treatment. If you use store chemicals it will only get worse. Talk to a local owned pest control company and try to arrange a payment plan. It will take about 2 months if they ar einside the hosue already. It will get a littel worse before it gets better, but it is worth it.

I had a very bad problem after I moved into an apartment last year. we got advice from the pest control company and followed his instructions. He was right, so I am passing it on.

But do not use raid or foggin/boms! It will get worse worse!
Reply:"All-natural" approaches for killing roaches don't work, period.

Hire a professional who can identify the species of roach (very important to do) and can find where they're nesting.

Then the professional will be able to develop a plan of action to kill what's there and prevent more from entering your home.

Roach traps aren't very effective in the long run without regular professional treatment. You can't kill enough of them to make a dent in the population.

How do I blend 2 colors on 1 wall?

I want to use a lavender color on the the lower 1/2 and blend it into a pale teal on top ( a little mermaid nursery) should I use a glaze? shold I dilute a latex paint? not sure....latex dries SO fast though, so I know I need to use SOMETHING. Don't want to use oils due to the fact that I'm preg and it's going in the nursery and it's HOT out....would stink up the house. Are there lengthening agents for latex wall paint? I know there is for latex ART piant, but not sure. Hmmm....HELP! Thanks!

How do I blend 2 colors on 1 wall?
What I have done before is to go one wall at a time. Paint the top portion and then the bottom portion. As soon as you are done rolling the colors on, take a rag dipped lightly in water and, using a swirling motion, blend the two colors together. You can also pick up a little more paint onto the rag if need be. When one wall is done, move onto the next wall and repeat. It is a little time consuming, but well worth the effort. If all else fails, get a friend or two to help. Have one person paint the top part, one person paint the bottom half (at the same time) and then the third person can go behind and immediately blend the two colors together. Good luck!
Reply:Not sure. Maybe use a chair rail?
Reply:I have found a wall mural that is so beautiful. This is probably easier for you since you're pregnant. I'm not sure about your budget (they're a little pricey), but if you can afford to do one wall, it would look really nice.

http://www.muralsyourway.com/myw4-design...
Reply:I have an idea that might work for you - you could paint the bottom lavender color, then the top part your teal color - then in between put a nice border - you know the kind they use on the wall up near the ceiling - but use it as the separation point between the two colors.

They make so many cute Nursery borders I'm sure you could find one that contains the two colors you're using for the nursery.

And if you're lucky, you can find one of those peel-on ones, so you don't have to go through the process of using water and a squeegee.

You just peel of the backing, and stick it to the wall. You can do it your self, preparing marks to make sure it's level.

Or it's easier with two people putting them up, with one checking to make sure it's level. And if you make a mistake, you peel it off and stick it back on in the right position. How easy can it get?

I've done it this way in a bathroom and it turned out wonderful.

Good luck to you and your future baby,

Ken

What is the best 'different' colour for guys to dye their hair?

My hair is naturally dark brown. I want to dye my hair, but I'm not sure of what colour to dye it. I want to dye it something 'different'; that is, a colour you don't normally see as a hair colour. My ma thinks I should get blonde 'icing' tips; my sister thinks I should get blonde streaks; and a friend of mine thinks I should get black streaks. I actually want a 'different' colour. I think maybe a deep dull blue would work, not quite a dark blue but not a normal blue either; or perhaps a slightly-dark dull lavender. I think the latter may be a little *too* 'different' though. What do you think? Any ideas?

What is the best 'different' colour for guys to dye their hair?
Well my opinion don't do the blonde tips thang if you want to be different, because everybody does that. I'd go with like a cool lookin blue or a dark neon green. I wouldn't go with the lavender, it just don't look right on guys to me. Just my opinion.

Reply:Yeah mabey dieing it all black and geting blue ice tips at the end that would look great,or if you reall wanna be different get grey!good luck i'll bet you'll look great!

What is the best way to treat cradle cap?

I am a herbalist. I have been using lavender oil on my sons head, and that works pretty good. Then I brush the little scales off, but they always come back. I was just wondering if any one else knows a good natural remedy that works for cradle cap.

Suggestions?

What is the best way to treat cradle cap?
Hi Kara, you don't really need to do anything, but if it bothers you, try shampooing more frequently and gently brushing your baby's scalp with a soft brush or a terrycloth towel.

If your lavender oil is not work, you can also find an other oil remedy helpful. (The oil helps to loosen dry flakes.) If you want to give it a try, rub just a small amount of a pure, natural oil ? such as almond or olive oil ? on your baby's scalp and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Then gently comb out the flakes with a fine-toothed comb or brush them out with a soft brush.

You can by itself do its home mixture and use this oil for your cradle cap, a mixture contains the following proven, natural ingredients: sunflower seed oil, olive esters, squalene, Vitamin E, chamomile and olive fruit oil.

Also almond oil is a natural moisturizing oil that is completely neutral and perfect for the sensitive skin on babies' scalps.

You need to follow up by washing your baby's scalp with a gentle baby shampoo? the last thing you want to do is leave oil on his head, which could clog the pores and cause the flakes to stick. You might try leaving the shampoo on for a few minutes before rinsing, to help cut the oil.

Jason Homan
Reply:An hour before shampooing, rub your baby's scalp with baby oil, mineral oil, or petroleum jelly to help lift the crusts and loosen scales.

When ready to shampoo, first get the scalp wet, then gently scrub the scalp with a soft-bristle brush (a soft toothbrush works well) for a few minutes to remove the scales. You can also try gently removing the scales with a fine-tooth comb.

Then wash the scalp with baby shampoo, rinse well, and gently towel dry.

Good luck. Namaste.
Reply:Kara,

Since you are an herbalist you should appreciate alternative ideas. It is something in your envrionment...whether it's the detergent or something in the air. Toxins cause their little bodies to do things like that...it's not because they are laying down all the time either...what about those that sit down all the time they don't get bottom scalies!! So I would think about removing the toxins and replacing items in your home that are not full of toxins. The link I included is a goverment website that shows what's toxic. Did you know Gerber baby wash has formaldehyde in it?? But they try to dispute the lavender in it is good!!! How about that for use of herbs??!! Check it out! contact me if you want more info!!
Reply:Aloe Vera works wonders inside and out! Good not just for skin problems but stomach and intestinal as well! Stops cramps and worth the bad taste it might have in your mouth... totally safe and so efficient that it is even mentioned in the Bible.
Reply:My mom used to very generously rub olive oil into the baby's scalp and let it soak in for a few minutes. Then she would comb the cradle cap out with fine toothed comb or brush it off with a soft brush, The she would shampoo with baby shampoo. Guaranteed cure after 1 treatment..
Reply:I always used baby oil. My daughter had it worse than my son, he didn't suffer with it for some reason.
Reply:I have four kids and every one of them went through a bout with this. We used baby oil.. they look like "Squiggy" on Laverne and Shirley, but it works...

hope you find a solution...

Peace
Reply:I use gentle naturals for my daughter and they make a formula for cradle cap, you can find it at target. I have also used baby oil, don't use a lot put rub it in gently, let it soak in a little bit and then use a baby brush or a very soft tooth brush to loosen up the scales, wash as normal after you do this

Why does the vent in my apartment smell like rotten eggs?

What are the best colors in make up for dark skin tones?

I am half black have chinese but i am fairly dark. In the past i've used brightly colored eye shadows in shades of white, lavender, pink, and baby blue. I've never used a colored lip gloss or lip stick, and blush, it has been out of the question.

What colors of eyeshadow would look best on my medium-dark skin, what colors should i stay away from?

The same goes for blush and lipstick...

What are the best colors in make up for dark skin tones?
tone close to your skin with a reddish tint - use a brown color that makes you look healthy and glowing - eye shadow for party is glam could be fantasy, but eye shadow for day time work should be making your eyes look bigger, brighter etc with varying darker and light tones and a thin eye liner
Reply:ANY COLOURS. black women can wear all the colours of the rainbow and look hot. Report It
Reply:bronze. . . and mabelline says pretty purples not to dark but not to light . the purple should bring out the eyez . but yeah bronze always looks good on dark women .
Reply:I have olive skin, and it's probably not as dark as yours, but I look best in plum blushes and lipsticks/glosses, and because my eyes are almost black I wear lavender, mint green or gold eyeshadow. I do not look good in pink or baby blue eyeshadows, but I do like to wear white because it really makes my eyes look bigger.

When I get sick of plum, dark peach or cinnamon blush and a matching lipgloss look good too. Have fun experimenting!
Reply:try a goldish brown color.stay away from the blues and greens.for blush a light brown would look good.then for the lipstick a sheer pink with a coat of gloss on the top!
Reply:Eyes – Grey, brown and natural shades are great for you but shimmer colours like bronze, silver and terracotta are great for special occasions.

Cheeks – Deep rose and apricot colours will highlight your cheekbones and give a bronze highlighter a go, you’ll look great.

Lashes – Draw attention to your eyes by experimenting with mascara – navy and dark purple will look great.

Lips – Dark shades like apricot, blackberry, caramel and red will give you luscious looking lips.
Reply:true blend from covergirl

and try nuertragina there blushes wont brake out ur skin

lipstick try lip glosses they look preeter but lipstick try going light or not to dark

stay away from heavy colors go nice and light
Reply:Aviod pink,lavender,greens,blues,%26amp; stuff.

Stick w/ browns,mauves,a few bronzes,mainly naturals.

They go w/ practicly anything! Use black eyeliner and

mascara w/ that. Your best blush is bronzer. Lip colors

like clear, sand, and pinked bronze would look good along

with matching lip liners. That's what you need.

What is the best way to get rid of smelly feet?

Tried everything, including massive doses of lavender. Please help! My wife won't let me have sex until I sort it out!

What is the best way to get rid of smelly feet?
Borax powder (boric acid) in your shoes will absorb sweat and kill odor. Also try those Odour Fresh insoles.

Remember to wash your feet at least once a day and change your socks every day!

You can soak your feet in Epsom salts and warm water (magnesium sulfate) every two or three days, this will also help a lot!
Reply:foot bath of water + vinegar

maybe you had a fungus you have to keep your feet and toes dry

dry well after shower, if need it use a blower between your toes
Reply:Peppermint. But it might be that you have a nail fungus-if so you will need something like lamisil to clear it up.
Reply:Use an anti bacterial soap to wash feet 2x daily. Always wear socks with shoes. Dr. scholls has a foot deodorizing spray and pwders. use these on your feet as well as inside of socks. put backing soda in shoes nightly and pour out excess before you put them on. also don't wear the same shoes or boots more than one day in a row-this will help them dry out between wearing them. (that is why they issue 2 pairs of boots in army basic training-one pair of laces has a not in it and the 2nd doesn't-that way they know if your switching them out-I've been to army basic training is how I know.) if that doesn't help-go to your dr. -- unless it suits you not having sex.
Reply:chopping them off seems to work

Reply:I dealt with this problem with my ex for 10 years! There are several products on the market,

#1, Charcoal inserts for shoes great for absorbing odor,

#2 Avon Anti fungal foot products (they have a spray that fab!)

#3 Odor eater Socks Made with chemicals that stop foot odor, #4 leave baking soda in shoes at all times!

#5 use arm n hammer kitty liter deodorizer in your shoes (smells great)

#6 don't ever wear closed shoes without socks (ever) promoted bacteria growth makes feet stinkier!

#7 use Lotrimin spray on feet daily for 3 months, this will cure all foot bacteria, By a new pair of tennis shoes to use during treatment and then throw then out!

This will help guaranteed!

Reply:Sounds like you may have a bacterial infection like athletes foot or some type of foot fungus. I would consult a doctor and in the mean time wash %26amp; dry your feet a couple times a day. Make sure they are dry, power with a medicated foot power like Dr Scholes or Gold Bond.

Spray your shoes/sneakers with deoderizer and put them in the dryer (if you can) with some dryer sheets for a 15 mins. Insoles help a lot as well.

Just try to keep both your feet %26amp; shoes as dry as possible.

Good luck...

Second, never ever wear cotton socks... Even most athletic socks now are non-cotton... cotton absorbs moisture and hangs onto it allowing the natural bacteria to grow and multiply... it's some of that bacteria that is creating the smell....

What color eye shadows should i use for my prom?

I have every thing taken care of except my makeup, i want to do the smoky eyes as far as my eye makeup goes i just don't know what colors to use, my dress is lavender with silver jewels.

What color eye shadows should i use for my prom?
I would do either

a shade of lavender or purple %26amp; grey/dark grey to coordinate w/the dress

or

a metallic dark grey %26amp; silver to play up the silver jewels.

or

just plain grey if you want to go simple.

the lavender/silver as opposed to the plain grey would draw more attention to your face, while just grey would put more focus on your dress
Reply:I would line my eyes with a brown liner. Then take a plum colored eye shadow and smudge it into the lashes with an angled brush over the eyeliner line. I personally would go with a neutral shade to cover the rest of my eye like a champagne or lightly metallic neutral. I'd use a very neutral shade of rose or peach with a gloss for my lips.

Then, using craft glue or a hot glue gun, attach all of the greenery or flowers you want to use. I've seen an adorable kissing ball covered with red carnations (silk or real--depending upon how long you need it to last). I have one that is covered with bits of silk evergreen and holly, miniature pine cones and bows.

What colors to mix to produce purple paint for house interiors?

i'm painting my daughters bedroom and she wants a lavender or purple paint. the walls are made of wood

What colors to mix to produce purple paint for house interiors?
red and blue make purple, to make it lavender you would have to add enough white until you got the shade you wanted
Reply:You'd be far, far better off to buy ready-mixed purple paint at the hardware store or paint store. Mixing paint colours should be left to professionals. For one thing, it'll be easier to match it if you need to repaint a wall or if you want to paint something else later. For another, mixing old paint is a really bad idea; you'll get a clotted mess.
