I typically buy fresh linen. To me, it smelled like a bad men's cologne and has filled my house with this smell! What a waste of money!!!

No. Never buy the stuff. They are all chemicals and bad for your health (although the manufacturers would never admit to it) and a waste of money.
If you have bad smells in your place it's best to eradicate them rather than cover them up with another chemical.
The thing to aim for is no smells at all!
Get fresh air into your place.
