Good compantion colors for lavender. What do you suggest?

Ok, so I'm getting married, and my fiance is letting me pick the colors. My problem is that I want lavender, but I don't know what looks good with it. I have swatches, and none of the colors seem to look right to me. Can anyone give me some ideas of what looks good, or can someone give me another shade of purple and a good companion color for that?

I'm doing a room in lavendar, and I know it can be a problem. I've discovered that the reason is that lavendar can create a really powerful mood, depending on what goes with it. Here's what I've found: In pastel with black it is very sophisticated and gives a sense of control and goes well with French styles. In pastel with white, it creates a very fresh mood and almost seems to smell good. In pastel with green, it suggests spring and flowers and a light, pretty rain. In pastel with pink, it can get a little too sweet and can seem childish. Pastel lavendar with yellow are traditional Easter colors. In darker shades with black it is too somber. In darker shades with green, it seems to belong in a comic strip. In darker shades with orange it has the effect of looking primitive.

I think it depends on the time of year you are getting married. If it is in spring, you would probably want to use a little of both green and white.

Congratulations and best wishes for a life of happiness.
Reply:First of congrats. :-D

Colors that work well with lavender = any shade of purple, light/power blue, light green(mint), basically any pastel colors. You may want to offset it with a dark blue or purple.
Reply:There are a lot of great colors that go with lavendar ... green is one and yellow is another. If you still aren't sure what you'd like, go to a craft store and get a color wheel. As much as it sounds like a high school art project gone wrong, it will actually help put things into perspective for you ... and make color choosing MUCH easier!
Reply:I like lilac better than lavender, but that's close.

I had lilac, teal, pink and yellow, with white accents for our wedding.

Lavender can look great with peach, or light green - depending on the proportions used. I've seen a lavender bridesmaid dress with a light green sash and bow, and it looked amazing! It all depends upon the shades you use, you have to be careful.
Reply:Rose pink looks nice with Lavender, and I reckon a very pale shade of pastel blue even. And even cream.
Reply:I think sage green and shades of purple look nice.
Reply:We used lavender, ivory and a pastel blue at our wedding. We had a May wedding with a garden ceremony, and it was very nice. Pale yellow, pale pink, silver and some shades of green can also look very nice with lavender.
Reply:Soft light pink or mauve or light silver would be nice. I don't like dark purple for weddings. Also try a wine color or a rose color too.
Reply:cream or olive.... a darker purple or a wine would look nice too
Reply:I am getting married in August and I am having orchard(lavendar) and grape. They go really good together, but every companys shades are different so not every orchard or lavendar is going to be the exact same. I never knew there could be so many shades of one color.
