Hi i am 39 weeks an was going to use lavender oil in my bath what will happen cud i go into labour?

omg are all these ppl so NOT up to date..taking a bath in late pregnacy can Not cause a infection..They have done studies on this and proven that water does not enter the vagina unless you take something and push it up there. They only warn about bathing after your water breaks but by then you will be heading to hospital anyway.

By all means put the oil in your bath and relax

Okay, first, "Taking a bath in the last 4-6 weeks could lead to infections in the birth canal" is just plain stupid. Of course you can take a bath. BATH WATER DOES NOT ENTER THE VAGINA. You can also take a bath immediately post-partum; it is time myths like that were put to rest.

"As an experiment using a starch-impregnated tampon and iodine in the water proved, bath water does not enter the vagina..."

You can stay in the tub and have your baby right there if it so pleases you, too:

"CONCLUSIONS: Water baths during labor are not associated with chorioamnionitis or endometritis."

But nothing is going to happen other than what the first poster said. You'll have a nice, relaxing bath with a lovely scent.
Reply:You will relax and smell like lavender.
Reply:Why not? Enjoy your bath but make sure of the following

1. The water temperature is not too hot.

2. You are careful in the bath tub and not slip.

3. There is enough ventilation so you dont feel dizzy with the steam.

4. Get into tub when hubby is around, just in case you need help getting out of the tub and who knows you might get into labor.
Reply:You shouldn't be taking a bath at this stage of the game. Take showers. If you want to smell good, put some on your washcloth, rub all over and rinse off. That works great! Taking a bath in the last 4-6 weeks could lead to infections in the birth canal. I'm really surprised your Dr. hasn't told you this.
Reply:You'll be fine. You'll just smell nice. I hope I helped! :) ?

P.S. Hollistergal is a conceited idiot. Ignore her stupid comments.
Reply:I think you can take a bath, I don't think it can cause infection, and when you done shower off really good, clean around your pubic area really well, then put on some lotion and have the feeling od being relaxed.
