Is Lavender Harmful To Cats?
I used to have a large lavender bush in my garden. It never bothered the cats but then again, they never slept next to it.

But really, the only things that stops/kills fleas is a product called Frontline. You have to get it from the vet as it is not available in shops. It is really effective and I strongly recommend it to you. If you use Frontline, it will work and you won't have to use another product.

Don't buy shop products though as they don't work properly and some can actually be harmful, even fatal, to your cat. (See www.hartzvictims.org)

If my cats could talk they would recommend Frontline.

Best Wishes (and a Happy New Year!)
Reply:Hi Dave...if it is lavender oil it is considered toxic to cats: http://cats.about.com/od/housekeeping/a/...

Please be careful of any aromatherapy oils in relation to cats as they can cause terrible burning to the skin and also over a period of time damage to the liver.
Reply:The only real way to get rid of fleas is to buy a product from your vets on prescription. Collars do not work and should be avoided, Frontline Combo is pretty good and will kill ticks too, Frontline normal is non-prescription and therefore slightly less effective, but can be purchased without the vets seeing your cat. The best product I know of is "Advocate", as it kills fleas, lice and other biting insects as well as roundworm and heartworm, plus it is effective in 1 hour, whereas Frontline takes up to 24 hours to be effective. The Vets where I work charge about £18 for three months worth of Advocate, and it is well worth the cost.

Don't forget to also worm your cat every 3 months, as fleas carry Tapeworm, so if your cat has fleas then she will also have Tapeworm, which you or your children can easily catch from her.
Reply:If the plant is still potted, then yes, a good over arm lob resulting in a direct hit can be lethal.
Reply:Here is a link with plants that are toxic to cats and it will show parts of the plant that is toxic.

Reply:Aromatherapy oils are not a good idea for cats as their internal organs are much smaller than ours. The oils that can benifit us can be fatal to our pets so please get the advice of a vet before giving any treatment.
