What color should I paint my bedroom?

I am in college now, so I want something sophisticated. Right now my walls are lavender, and I hate it! I am fun, outgoing person and I like contrasting tones, but that always seems to clash with being sophisticated. My furniture is white, so basically i can do any colors so long as the walls are all the same color. I need a new bedspread and decorations, too. Any ideas on what to do?

What color should I paint my bedroom?
Considering that your furniture is white, a darker wall color would be great. Look at decorating magazines e.g. Traditional Home, Southern Living, etc. %26amp; pay attention to the rooms that you like best. I used to clip the rooms I liked %26amp; found out that my favorite color is green! Take a trip to a paint store; they have books on color plus you can look at colors available %26amp; take home samples. One word of advice - get only a quart %26amp; paint only one wall before deciding that you want the whole room to be that color.
Reply:Purple!
Reply:Pick out your new bedding and curtains first, then select a color you love from that.
Reply:Medium brown, Medium pink, and baby blue in patterns of circles and strips you could either have a white background or a darker brown background or just have the medium brown back ground and blue and pink circles or stripis or just strip the three
Reply:I just painted my room and it looks fantastic. The walls are a light sage green (flat paint), the ceiling is an off white and the trim is painted this same off white. I put up crown moulding and painted it bright pure semi-gloss white. Crown moulding is very inexpensive. I did my whole room for about $40 (moulding). So pick a color you love for the walls and paint the ceiling white (off white) and the trim white. It will look great.
Reply:OK cyfmcd, YOU already have the answer! Look in your clothes closet. What colors get you the most positive comments? Pick three. Paint three walls one color. (60% of the room) Paint one wall a contrasting color. Also use that color for draperies and/or bedspread. (30%) The final color is for Accents.

Alternatively, pick the patterned bedspread or draperies FIRST, (according to your favorite clothes) THEN pull out the contrast and accent colors from the pattern! Good paint stores can match YOUR color samples, anyway!
Reply:light yellow wall is mose popular and give warm feeling to guests. you can also use one side wall for red, or hang large red pictures. that's fit your character.
