What do you guys think of these colors for decorating?

I'm decorating my fiance's house and he said to do whatever I wanted to. And I'm going to do the bedroom in Lavender, pink, and yellow with a seashell like theme. I'm totally into interior design and these are my favorite colors. What do you guys think? Would he like it?

no. i doubt he'll like it. seashells are better for the bathroom, IF you want to use that theme (personally, don't). you might be "totally into interior design", but i wouldn't hire you. sorry.
Reply:i'm a guy and i can live in a cave...if my wife likes it, then it's in, cause i just want her happy...

if your guy is anykind of a guy, he just wants you happy, cause really he'd be happy in a cave with bones on the floor, if you could stand it.

when i was a kid mom wanted to paint the kitchen (it was dad's house before they got married) and he let her...she had my grandpa paint it pink, (this was in the 50's) and the table was pink the chairs were pink vinyl, the canisters and breadbox were pink and the curtains were pink...mom was thrilled with the new look and i wish i had a camera for the look on dad's face when he first saw it (just after mom showed him around and left the room for a moment, he let his guard down and the expression was one of abject horror) but he never let her know he didn't like it...what a guy my dad was.(and a good husband)
Reply:I really like the seashell theme in bathrooms
Reply:I think it would be awful for a male bathroom. AWFUL. I am so sorry but I just don't think most straight guys would like it. If you want to do something subtle with seaside tones look at some of Sarah Richardsons stuff.

These might give you a starting point.

My husband agrees with me about the yellow/pink/lavender thing.

I just realized that you said bedroom and not bathroom. If you really meant bedroom, I would go with something more masculine... a lot more. This also involves heavy textures, like suedes and such, but that is my personal taste.

Rooms like this seem more masculine to me:

If you really want a masculine but seaside room, here is an idea, it isnt a bedroom but hey:

Reply:No, not if he has hormones.

The bedroom is a shared area - you can use one color you like, one he likes, and one you both like. You should both be comfortable and happy there.

My husbands favorite color is blue, mine is yellow, and we both like green - so our house is all these colors, in different shades, and matched up differently in different rooms.

Our bedroom has a lot of blue, a little yellow and green; and the guest room and kitchen are mostly yellow.

See what I mean?
Reply:You're not serious are you? NO WAY would a man appreciate lavender, pink %26amp; seashells in his bedroom. My man is pretty easy going, but even he would gak at that.

Do something a lot more calming %26amp; tranquil in the bedroom, like Sherwin Williams "reflecting pool," with "nacre" for the trim %26amp; ceiling. This shade is gender-neutral, and it will feel like being at the beach - so might still be able to use your seashells. Your fiance would be more willing to compromise on that with the colors not so feminine.
Reply:You asked so I'm going to give you my thoughts. Men and lavender and pink just don't jive. Why not blues and yellows like the ocean and the sun? You don't want to make the bathroom too feminine. Long term lavender and pinks in a mans bathroom just will not get it...at least not to me. Sorry sweetie. I would let you come and do MY bathroom in lavender and pink though. It would be pretty for a female.

OH CAPSNUF...what a neat story and what a guy your dad was...bet it rubbed off. You're a keeper!!!!
