I want to dye my hair with lavender and dark purple stripes (like the cheshire cat). Help for some dyes?

I also need some details about how it might damage my hair (it's naturally dark brown, so i'll have to bleach it) and any other advice you might have.

ok i used to dye my hair a lot wierd colors so the best is to go to a Hot Topic or go online to their store and buy the hair dye there, bleaching will ruin your hair but if you just bleach streaks you should be fine you can always dye them darker and back to normal if you want, colored dye like blues pinks oranges, unusal colors are usually semipermanent so you will keep having to dye it every month or so

Reply:Cute idea! Since you know you have to bleach it to tone them to the colors you want, think of how you will damage your hair for this phase you are going through. Think also how these colors will fade on pre-lightened hair(really fast), and what colors they will fade to(less than desirable). Then You are left with all of this damage, and you'll probably want the color out once it fades, thus causing MORE damage to get it out!

I've been a stylist for 8 years, done it all, and did not like what my hair felt like after the bleaching and Manic Panic etc...

Not to mention the chemical layers it can cause!

Reply:Personally, I don't think anyone will get the Cheshire Cat reference. I think they will all just assume you are on drugs.
Reply:Usually I do my own hair color at home, but for something that crazy you should really go to a professional colorist. They have to bleach it and then put in the colors so it will be pretty damaging, but nothing some deep conditioning treatments won't make managable. Make sure to call the salon ahead to find out if they got the colors you want. It sounds like it will look pretty cool.

Hot topic sells it, so you can get it at the mall. You can even buy the dye at Hot Topic and bring it to the salon if they don't have it.

I HIGHLY suggest you get a pro. hairdresser to do it, otherwise you'll mess up and probably ruin your hair.

I recomend sticking to your natural colour though..

It is going to damage your hair and give you split ends but whatever makes you happy
