not true at all. don't feed boys chicken.
Someone told me lavender products cause sterilization in male infants. Is that true?
no, but you should not use lavender products for newborns because they sleep so much anyway, and lavender will make them sleep more and not eat and be active as much as they should be (according to the doctors and nursing staff when i gave birth). they advised me not to use lavender until 3 months old.
however, soy formula can cause some sterilization or decreased sperm count in infants, because in large amounts is contains quite a bit of phyto-estrogens. no lie. look it up.
Reply:I heard that lavender oil has estrogen in it and may spurt breasts in boys......
Reply:no, it is false

A recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine noted that there may be a connection between the development of breast tissue on male children and the use of lavender and/or tea tree oils on them. The researchers found that the oils had both estrogenic and antiandrogenic properties. This means that the oils fostered estrogen (a primarily female hormone) and suppressed androgens (a primarily male hormone).
The researchers speculated that these hormonal effects may have led to the development of the unwanted breast tissue and they cautioned parents to be on the lookout for these products in products such as diaper wipes. In the three children who had the gynecomastia, once the use of these oils stopped, the extra breast tissue did go away.
Reply:No, but it may cause gynecomastia - the growth of breasts in males. Here's an article about it: http://www.nih.gov/news/pr/jan2007/niehs...
Reply:I'm unsure...(as I'm probably sure everyone else is who told you "no)."
Don't take chances. Unless you work with essential oils and are well educated in their use and applications, try something else.
The breast growth thing in prepubescent boys IS true. Researched it a while back.
DO NOT, use lavender OR TEA TREE products on young boys. That's for sure. If you have, just stop immediately, so the effects can wear off.
I used to clean the air with lavender oil, for my baby boy, but never put products on him containing it or tea tree.

ps
also know that shea butter contains natural latex, so be cautious about using that on your little one as well
