What do you people know about lavender?

I need to know as many answers as possible...anything.

What do you people know about lavender?
Lavender is best and easiest propagated from an established plant, rather than from seed. It is basically a Mediterranean perennial, so does not need a lot of water and of course does well in full sun. It is easy to shape and does well with other wildflowers such as California poppy. It is also a variegated type of plant, there are several different types: English, French, and Spanish with many sub types among them. It comes in the traditional deep lavender (amethyst), light lavender, pink, red-violet, and even white.

Reply:It's a perenniel. And it likes a lot of sun and dry soil. Easy to grow.
Reply:Aromatherapy - the essential oil can be very healing on cuts and bruises. (This application is called "neat" and should be done sparingly. Most essential oils should NOT be used neat on the skin - lavender is one of the few that can be.)

The scent can be very soothing and can aid in calming "active" children and adults. You can make small pillows (like sachet size), fill them with dried lavender flowers and put under your pillow and it can help you to fall asleep and sleep more calmly.

The same effect can be achieved by using a diffuser - usually a glass tube that you add water and your essential oil (EO) to and when it's plugged in will send the fine mist into the air.

There are many more uses for lavender - check out http://www.lavenderfarm.com/history.htm and http://www.mynsp.com/leslie_cider/produc...
